About The Position

Reporting to the Associate Director – Academic Programs, the incumbent provides project management and expert support to all Engineering programs regarding course and Program revisions, accreditation and quality improvement activities. The role supports the Faculty of Engineering in ensuring that its programs meet or exceed established accreditation standards, in accordance with appropriate accreditation policies, criteria, and procedures and meet all criteria for course and program revisions. The Academic Programs and Accreditation Officer oversee all submissions to the Subcommittee on courses and Teaching Programs (SCTP), Council of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (CGPS), Academic Policy Committee (APC) - Teaching and Academic Planning (TAP), and accreditation bodies. They play a key role in supporting continuous educational quality improvement initiatives and contributes expertise in accreditation, cyclical program reviews, course and program revisions, program evaluation, curriculum design, and learner assessment. The role may also support other related initiatives, as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of undergraduate Engineering education policies
  • Demonstrated proficiency in providing guidance to administrative and academic staff
  • Experience with the Course Catalogue
  • Familiarity with academic programs, as well as course and program revision process
  • Demonstrated proficiency in streamlining administrative processes

  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.
  • Level 4 (qualifier) English proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high level guidance and administrative support to all Undergraduate Engineering programs regarding Course & Program revisions, Course Catalogue publication, accreditation and quality improvement activities.
  • Acts as an expert, liaison and advisor to departmental academic and accreditation committees on requirements and priorities.
  • Stays informed of SCTP, APC/TAP, and Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur (MEES) requirements regarding course and program proposals and works with departments to ensure that proper submission of documents.
  • Reviews proposals prior to their submissions to Academic Committee.
  • Oversees the organization of the accreditation process and streamlines it. This includes planning for and overseeing accreditation visits, as well as annual accreditation-related activities based on accreditation cycle and requirements, and guiding units through the application process and site visits, as per Accreditation bodies’ policies.
  • Manages the collection and analysis of data for continuous educational quality improvement through consultations, documentation, and reporting.
  • Stays abreast of accreditation bodies’ requirements and works with departments to ensure that they are enforced.
  • Reviews accreditation dossiers prior to their submission to ensure the quality of the documents.
  • Ensures accreditation procedures are well documented and updated.
  • Manages the acquisition, review and submission of academic programs and accreditation reports to appropriate units in the University and to the accrediting bodies.
  • Manages actions required to address the mandatory areas for improvement generated from program accreditation reviews.
  • Produces quarterly reports on accreditation and quality improvement activities.
  • Participates in the Academic and Accreditation committees.
  • Manages the Faculty-wide course administration including hiring Teaching Assistants, Invigilators, Course lecturers; as well as other hiring in the unit including Research Assistants/Associates.
  • Supervising administrative and support staff.
