About The Position

Provides administrative oversight and coordination of the Civil Engineering Technology program through the development, implementation, evaluation, and advancement of course curriculum and programs, teaching effectiveness, student advisement, academic support systems, and program promotion. This position reports to the Department Chair of Math, Engineering, and Information Technology at NHTI, Concord’s Community College.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in Civil Engineering.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, engineering education, laboratory operations, academic program support, or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license or access to transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering License is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Department Chair with the administration of the Civil Engineering Technology program including the recruitment and selection of faculty, scheduling and assigning of instructional assignments and the evaluation of Civil Engineering Technology faculty.
  • Assists the Department Chair in the identification, development and implementation of professional development and training plans for faculty.
  • Serves as academic advisor to Civil Engineering Technology students and helps promote student retention.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates curricula; maintains program/course documents.
  • Oversees the Civil Engineering curriculum and reviews and coordinates textbook selection.
  • Communicates and works with other academic and non-academic departments on issues of mutual concern such as general academic issues, transfer pathways, library purchases, registration and placement activities.
  • Participates in meetings, recruitment events and activities of academic leadership council.
  • Recruits students in collaboration with admissions staff
  • Monitors graduates for the purpose of compiling placement statistics.
  • Maintains liaison with professional community including recruiting, developing and advising the advisory committee, and responding to professional development needs.
  • Assists with the procurement process for program-related materials, equipment, etc.
  • Serves on faculty and department, college, and system committees and teams as required.
  • Complies with College, System, State and Federal rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
