About The Position

The Academic Evaluator/Advisor Trainee (SSP-IA) participates in a comprehensive training program designed to develop expertise in academic evaluation, transfer credit analysis, admissions eligibility review, and student advising. Through structured learning and hands-on experience, the incumbent gains knowledge of CSU policies, Title 5 regulations, SDSU degree requirements, and transfer articulation practices. Upon successful completion of the training program, the employee progresses to independently evaluate academic records, determine transfer credit applicability, advise students on degree completion, and support admission and graduation processes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate transcripts and academic records to determine transfer credit, degree applicability, examination credit awards, and progress toward graduation.
  • Review and maintain student records by auditing degree evaluations, verifying academic information, and ensuring records are accurate and compliant with university policies.
  • Support transfer articulation efforts by researching external coursework, determining course equivalencies, and updating transfer credit information in university systems.
  • Support students with degree requirements, academic policies, graduation planning, and readmission options to help them achieve their educational goals.
  • Assess transfer admission eligibility by reviewing academic histories, evaluating coursework, and determining eligibility based on established admission standards.
  • Conduct research and resolve academic record issues using university resources, databases, and policies to support accurate evaluations and student success.
