Academic Designer, PreK-K Literacy/Multilingual Learners (MLL)

We are seeking an experienced, innovative, and strategic Academic Designer, PreK-K Literacy/Multilingual Learners (MLL). Academic Designers are content and curriculum experts who assemble high-quality content based on specific product requirements and understand solution design. They collaborate with the Academic Design team and Product Managers to develop the solution design, encompassing both conceptualization and implementation. This is a remote Project Status Worker (PSW) role with an end date of 12/31/2027, open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, literacy, linguistics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in literacy curriculum development and educational publishing focused on PreK-K literacy and English Language Development.
- Strong knowledge of literacy content development practices, ELA and ELD standards (including WIDA, ELPA21, California ELD, and Texas ELPS), and current academic and pedagogical trends.
- Highly organized, goal-oriented, collaborative, and committed to accuracy, quality, attention to detail, and on-time project delivery.
- Demonstrating initiative, integrity, and professionalism.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a strong command of English language, grammar, spelling, writing, and editing.
- Proven organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain productive and efficient work habits.
- Knowledge of digital learning, including authoring systems, accessibility, and testing.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat, Smartsheet, and K4/InCopy markup.

Responsibilities
- Plan and develop instructional content for teacher and student materials, including learning objectives, scope and sequence, tables of contents, lessons, videos, teacher resources, and print, digital, and multimedia projects.
- Edit student- and teacher-facing content to ensure appropriate scaffolding and linguistic accessibility for multilingual learners across varying levels of English language proficiency.
- Assist in developing prototypes, exemplars, guidelines, project proposals, and project scope documentation, while serving as the primary point of contact between vendors, internal engineering teams, and Academic Design teams.
- Apply a strong understanding of PreK–Kindergarten Reading/Language Arts and English Language Development pedagogy to produce accurate, error-free, high-quality curriculum aligned with CCSS, state standards, project scope, market requirements, appropriate reading levels, grammar, and style.
- Provide constructive feedback to colleagues and vendors, identified and mitigated project risks, solved assignment-related challenges, and recommended process improvements.
- Stay current on emerging educational and curriculum trends, educational technology, and literacy research to inform content development and instructional design.
