About The Position

The Academic Dean is responsible for the overall operation and effectiveness of the education department. This includes managing and supervising all faculty and externship coordinators, overseeing instructor turnover and student retention, and reviewing curriculum to ensure effective dissemination and student employability upon graduation. The role also involves developing new programs, ensuring compliance and accreditation, and staying current with industry standards and effective teaching strategies.

  • Supervisory or management work experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring teaching strategies, lesson plans, and classroom techniques are updated regularly.
  • Verifying that instructors teach according to approved lesson plans.
  • Ensuring instructors motivate students to achieve their highest academic and professional proficiencies.
  • Ensuring instructors maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Ensuring classroom equipment is maintained and classrooms support learning.
  • Ensuring instructors maintain supply inventory and make timely requisitions for laboratory training.
  • Ensuring instructors maintain accurate and consistent academic records for each student.
  • Ensuring instructors utilize the standard measurement of maintaining satisfactory progress as defined by the institution and school catalog.
  • Advising instructional staff and making constructive recommendations.
  • Conducting regular departmental meetings.
  • Interviewing and hiring prospective instructors.
  • Training new instructors on institutional policies, procedures, and effective teaching techniques.
  • Cooperating with and providing reports to the School Director regarding instructional evaluations.
  • Providing motivational materials to instructional staff to enhance the learning experience.
  • Interfacing with the Career Services Director to ensure instructors are updated on graduate employability and industry needs.
  • Advising students on attendance and behavioral issues.
  • Interfacing with the School Director regarding students on academic probation, suspension, terminations, and leaves of absence.
  • Interfacing with the School Director regarding students who are transferring, terminating, graduating, or re-entering the school.
  • Supervising and managing externship coordinators and programs.
  • Assisting administrative personnel with statistical data for reports.
  • Assisting the Financial Planning Department with satisfactory progress reporting.
  • Acquiring a working knowledge of the CLASS software system for data entry, correction, and analysis.
  • Scheduling students and assigning instructors with assistance from the School Director’s office.
  • Following and maintaining all established school policies and procedures.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Maintaining regular and reliable attendance.
