Academic Coach

Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit CountyMount Vernon, WA
Onsite

About The Position

A great learning experience can change the way a young person sees a subject-and sometimes the way they see themselves. We're looking for an Academic Coach who can help make those moments happen. Someone who enjoys encouraging young people, finding creative ways to make challenging concepts easier to understand, and creating an environment where asking questions, trying new things, and making mistakes are all part of learning. As an Academic Coach, you'll support youth with homework, academic skill-building, and enrichment activities while helping make learning feel approachable, relevant, and fun. You'll encourage strong study habits, critical thinking, and problem-solving while giving members opportunities to explore ideas beyond the classroom. That might mean leading a science experiment, taking on an engineering challenge, exploring technology, working through a creative project, or simply helping a young person find a different way to understand something that has been frustrating them. Just as importantly, you'll be someone our members can count on. You'll build positive relationships with youth, recognize their progress, encourage them when things get difficult, and help them develop the confidence to keep trying. You'll also work alongside Club staff, families, schools, and community partners to support each young person's academic growth and help them reach their full potential. At Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County, we want young people to see learning as an opportunity to explore, discover, and grow-not simply another task to complete. If you're excited to help youth build skills, discover new interests, and realize just how capable they can be, we'd love to hear from you.
