The Academic Coach will serve as a full-time, supplemental, teacher-focused resource, spending 50-60% of their time on classroom coaching with teachers (planning, demonstration, observation, co-teaching, and lesson study) and 40-50% on coaching responsibilities (own training, professional development for staff, data review and conversations, staff development coordination with the principal, and record keeping/logs). The role involves leadership in structuring professional learning, acting as a catalyst for academic improvement, articulating results, and modeling collaboration. Accountability includes facilitating data analysis to determine impact on student learning and teacher practice, increasing teachers' capacity to analyze research for instructional decisions, and advancing teachers' understanding of assessment strategies. Support involves acting as a resource for job-embedded professional learning, engaging teachers in data analysis, facilitating professional learning experiences aligned with school goals, advancing teachers' understanding of content knowledge and research-based strategies, and providing classroom-based support for instructional practices. Communication entails creating structures for collaborative work, ensuring professional learning time enhances teaching and learning, and keeping stakeholders informed of progress and successes.
