About The Position

This position serves as an Academic Coach focused primarily on meeting the needs of student populations for whom data indicate a need for more support (i.e., developmental education placement, first generation, athletes, underrepresented, Pell-eligible, non-traditional, multilingual, etc.), coaching them on student skill strategies and awareness of resources. This is a highly collaborative position; RCTC's student success resources work collaboratively, with a commitment to each student’s successful academic progress from registration to graduation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two-year related professional work experience in education.
  • An associate’s degree may substitute for 6 months professional experience, a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 1-year professional experience, and a master’s degree may substitute for 1.5-years professional experience.
  • Knowledge of student success/student development philosophy, policy, practice.
  • Experience supporting and advocating for high-needs populations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in numerous formats for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional collaborative relationships within a higher education community.
  • Experience or knowledge of academic advising and/or retention initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or related field
  • Certificate or credential in TESOL and/or Reading
  • Bilingual Experience with retention initiatives and/or executive functioning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with RCTC's student success resources to ensure each student’s successful academic progress from registration to graduation.
