Under general supervision, the Academic Advisor provides individual and group advisement, explains degree requirements and academic policies, assists with educational planning and course selection, responds to Education Advisory Board (EAB) alerts, supports Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students, and participates in assigned outreach and campus events. Serves as a member of a College of Health & Human Development team of advisors who deliver a wide range of services to all new and continuing students. Using developmental advising theory, holistic advising techniques, and computer-assisted advising information, advises each student based on the unique skills, abilities, interests, and needs of that student. Assists in the probation and Academic Disqualification process. Explains university degree requirements, academic policies, procedures, and regulations. Assists students with educational planning, course selection, and other advisement-related issues. Performs other duties as assigned.
