The primary purpose of an academic advisor is to support and guide students throughout their academic journey. Academic advisors play a crucial role in enhancing student success and ensuring a positive and productive educational experience. Academic Advisors serve as a resource to all prospective and current students within the College (undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate). Academic advisors are required to be familiar with overall Department of Education and Board of Trustees policies and procedures that govern the matriculation process (e.g., general education, Gordon Rule, transfer admissions requirements, registration processes, class scheduling, graduation, etc.) as well as appropriate student referral sources (e.g., academic support services, career services) to facilitate student success.
