About The Position

Advises and counsels individuals who may include current students, prospective students, recent graduate students, and/or faculty and staff. Provides guidance in relation to careers and academic information. Acts as a liaison to various employee and student groups.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and one (1) year of higher education experience in Academic Advising.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough intake interviews to determine the student’s ability to succeed in the program.
  • Coordinates eligibility for program with the Director and other related offices such as the Financial Aid Office.
  • Assist students with completion of required paperwork for program including re-admission to the University, change of major forms, graduation forms, and baccalaureate contracts.
  • Maintains counseling/coaching notes on students in the Finish Line program.
  • Keeps active records of case load in department’s software tracking system.
  • Develops monthly and annual reports on activities and outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Initiates communication with Finish Line program-eligible students via email messages, phone calls, and direct mail to promote program.
  • Evaluate the transcripts and develops individual degree completion plans for Finish Line program-eligible students.
  • Provide intrusive advising/coaching to students focusing on academic skills, course selection, and degree completion.
  • Communicates and provides support for at-risk students navigating university policies and procedures.
