About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Advisor II in Boca Raton, FL. The College of Social Work and Criminal Justice is looking for a dedicated Academic Advisor II to offer high-quality academic advising and program guidance to undergraduate and graduate students. This position will support student success from the initial contact through graduation, assist with admissions processes, and collaborate with faculty and university partners to ensure timely degree progress. Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization
  • Three years of advising or appropriate experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary advisor in providing academic advising and program guidance to students interested in and enrolled in SW-CJ undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Reinforce and support student degree progress, academic success, recruitment, and retention in alignment with the strategic priorities of the college and its ongoing commitment to student success.
  • Help create and sustain a positive environment that provides all students with access to high-quality advising.
  • Assist SW-CJ undergraduate students through the academic process from initial contact to graduation.
  • In conjunction with Faculty Program Coordinators, assist SW-CJ graduate and undergraduate students through the academic process from initial contact to admissions decision and then from admission to graduation.
  • Process admission applications, decisions, and various other forms beyond admission and through degree completion.
  • Review graduate students’ Plans of Study and complete degree certification.
  • Assist students with exploring and gathering information on School, College, Graduate College, and University policies, procedures, and degree requirements.
  • Direct students to the appropriate university office or faculty or staff member for assistance with concerns that do not fall within the purview of SW-CJ Advising Services.
  • Maintain the college academic files for all SW-CJ graduate students.
  • Serve as SW-CJ Advising Services’ contact for College, Graduate College, Undergraduate Office, and University events, such as Orientation and Open House.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of key performance indicators and work competently with available software and technology to facilitate timely and data-driven advising.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple units across the university.
  • Perform graduate admissions functions in applicant tracking software and administrative systems.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
