The AC Service Technician will test and troubleshoot AC systems, including the continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system. This role involves working from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs, and troubleshooting, maintaining, modifying, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, fans, fan motors, and associated safety and protection devices to ensure peak efficiency and energy conservation. The technician will also provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates, diagnose system malfunctions, locate and correct breakdown causes, connect wires to components, inspect electrical systems for hazards, and advise management of hazardous equipment. Additionally, the role includes planning, monitoring, installing, and adjusting heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment using an energy management system, and performing installation of mechanical systems, including piping and modifications to existing cooling systems. Corrective and preventive maintenance on various units such as packaged units, split coil systems, air compressors, pumps, air handlers, and air-cooled condensers is also a key responsibility. A strong background in HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including hands-on experience in operating and troubleshooting systems, is essential.
