About The Position
Hutco, Inc. is seeking experienced Abrasive Blasters for work at Newport News Shipbuilding. Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience using high-pressure blast equipment and be capable of working safely in physically demanding shipyard environments. This position is for Abrasive Blasters and is not a Blast Machine Equipment Operator (BMEO) or Ultra-High Pressure Water Blaster position.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience using high-pressure blast equipment
- Experience working in a physically demanding environment
- Experience working in confined spaces
- Experience working at heights
- Experience using a blaster air-fed helmet and/or soft-hood air-fed respirator
- Experience using a negative-pressure half-face respirator
- Must be physically capable of entering and moving through manways and tank openings
- Must be a United States Citizen

Responsibilities
- Perform abrasive blasting operations while wearing all required PPE
- Work in confined spaces and tanks
- Work at heights
- Enter and move through restricted manway and tank openings
- Wear required respiratory and protective equipment for extended periods
- Work in varying temperature and humidity conditions
