About The Position

Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL) is seeking an Abortion Provider Training Coordinator to join our Medical Services team. PPIL is dedicated to providing high-quality, inclusive, and accessible sexual and reproductive health care, including family planning, contraception, abortion care, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, gender-affirming care, and wellness services. The Abortion Provider Training Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in outreach and recruitment of trainees, coordinating trainee onboarding, scheduling, and post-rotation follow-up, working with legal to obtain and execute all contracting and compliance documentation, tracking program deliverables, assisting in program evaluation, providing hands-on training in ultrasound and abortion counseling and education, and performing additional administrative tasks. This is a grant-funded position, and its length depends on funding availability. The role reports to the Physician Associate Medical Director.

Requirements

  • High School Degree
  • Experience with procedural and medical abortion education and ultrasound in abortion care.
  • An understanding and commitment to the mission and goals of Planned Parenthood.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience with demonstrated results.
  • Course work in administrative or marketing.
  • Medical/clinical background.
  • Experience with data and statistical analysis.
  • Office experience.
  • Strong Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience, either professional or volunteer, in a family planning/reproductive health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the activities of the abortion provider training program.
  • Communicate directly with training partner organizations about program requirements, training schedules, and pre-rotation expectations.
  • Build the trainee schedule and sync it with the abortion clinic schedule based on scheduled PAB shifts.
  • Assist with the administrative aspects of the medication abortion training project, including trainee recruitment.
  • Serve as a point person at PPIL for future and current trainees.
  • Partner with Risk and Quality Management (RQM) to ensure trainee compliance with all onboarding requirements.
  • Review the weekly START portal report from PPFA/ARMS.
  • Solicit and file/document other required items from trainees (e.g., demographic form, Illinois-mandated Mandatory Reporting Certificate).
  • Provide hands-on training in the health center, including procedural and medication abortion education and ultrasound.
  • Coordinate with Associate Medical Director and lead Behavioral Health Clinician to schedule quarterly values clarification sessions for incoming trainees.
  • Build on and improve existing systems of communication, digital file organization, and administrative workflows to bolster efficiency.
  • Support the overarching project management of Abortion Provider Training Program of the Medical Services department and collaborate with other departments as needed.
  • Execute special administrative projects as assigned by the CMO, AMD, Senior Director of Patient Services, Senior Director of Clinical Education and Initiatives, Ultrasound Program Director as necessary.
  • Track, monitor and document activities and outcomes of the abortion provider training program, and coordinate with Development department to develop grant reports.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to remain informed about PPIL protocols, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensure abortion provider training program materials are properly formatted and ready for internal dissemination.
