About The Position

Abilene Public Schools (USD #435), Abilene, KS, is currently seeking ABC After-School Staff. The purpose of this role is for ABC Staff to work with the Site Lead Teacher in the implementation of activities and active supervision of participants. This position is responsible to the Lead Teacher, Principal/Site Coordinator, and Program Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Student centered.
  • Demonstrated success in working with students.
  • Willingness to take direction from a supervisor.
  • Willingness to collaborate with all ABC staff.
  • Desire to continue to enhance skills and job performance.
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made).

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of ABC Program activities.
  • Active supervision of ABC students.
  • Develop positive and supportive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Support student learning during instructional and enrichment activities.
  • Assist with preparation of materials for activities.
  • Assist with clean-up of areas following activities.
  • Accept direction and feedback from Lead Teacher and Principal/Site Coordinator.
  • Ability to work with and supervise groups of students.
  • Ability to assist individual children in need of special attention.
  • Ability to guide planned activities.
  • Ability to assist students with noninstructional classroom duties, such as snack, toilet, and clothing routines.
  • Ability to assist with reading and storytelling.
  • Ability to prepare and organize materials for planned activities.
  • Ability to observe and follow all school district policies.
  • Ability to respond to supervisor requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.
  • Ability to follow guildelines concerning the use of personal technology devices during student supervision.
  • Ability to implement and follow all District health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  • Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the Lead Teacher, Principal/Site Coordinator, or Program Director.
