About The Position

The Crew Chief is a working member of the crew and is responsible for directing air freight shipments. This role involves routing inbound and outbound shipments, receiving customer orders, assembling and loading cargo, and preparing necessary documentation. The Crew Chief must adhere to security procedures and hazardous material handling requirements, as well as maintain a clean and safe work environment. Additional duties may include acting as a Load Coordinator, supervising aircraft loading, and serving as an International Document Specialist, with premium pay for these roles.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalency
Must be able to qualify and obtain an AOA badge and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection seal
Available to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test

Premium pay is offered for all hours worked as a Load Coordinator and/or International Document Specialist.

Responsibilities

Routes inbound and outbound air freight shipments to their destinations.
Receives counter orders from customers and arranges for pickup of freight and delivery to loading platform.
Assembles cargo according to destination.
Weighs items and determines cost.
Directs or participates in cargo loading to ensure completeness of load and even distribution of weight.
Itemizes charges.
Prepares manifest to accompany shipments.
Adheres to required security procedures and hazardous material handling requirements.
Unloads inbound freight, notifies consignees of shipment arrival, and arranges for delivery to consignees.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.
Coordinates and supervises personnel in loading of company aircraft during operations when assigned as a crewmember.
Handles all required documentation for International Customers/Carriers when trained.
