About The Position

CRUCIAL MRO is now hiring a full-time A&P Structural Technician at Southern Illinois Airport (MDH) in Murphysboro, Illinois. Relocation reimbursement is available with limitations. This role involves performing light to heavy structural and sheet metal repairs on aircraft, inspecting and evaluating structures and components, and restoring and repairing defects using various materials and techniques. The technician will also fabricate and install aircraft structural components, construct original equipment, and conduct corrosion control inspections. Quality and precision are paramount, with all work needing to meet FAA specifications and be properly documented on work orders.

Requirements

  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Work with the rules and regulations of FAR 145 repair station
  • Perform inspections of the aircraft
  • Remove and reinstall fasteners, ream and install oversize fasteners
  • Identify and install blind fasteners
  • Properly remove sealant and reseal completed work within fuel tanks
  • Use calibrated equipment.
  • Read, Write, and Speak English.
  • Have a valid Driver’s License, and reliable transportation.
  • Must have basic structural tools
  • Applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations
  • Requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Requires occasional crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 50lbs unassisted.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred knowledge of aircraft structures and components.
  • Preferred knowledge of maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogue, structural repair manuals
  • Completion of an FAA-approved aviation maintenance technician program or a sheet metal mechanic program or equivalent military experience is preferred.
  • A valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License is preferred.
  • Specific experience on a CRJ being a strong asset and preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform light to heavy structural and sheet metal repairs
  • Inspect and evaluate aircraft structures and related components
  • Restore and repair defects using unique aircraft fastening hardware, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, composite materials, adhesives and paint and textiles.
  • Fabricate and install aircraft structural components.
  • Construct original aircraft equipment, components and replacement items from base metals using special cutting tools.
  • Conduct corrosion control inspections of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Inspect all work and tasks performed on work site to ensure quality and precision.
  • Ensure work orders are completed to FAA specifications.
  • Make appropriate entries on routine and non-routine work cards.
