About The Position
The ICARE Call Center is seeking employees interested in dual employment as 988 Crisis Counselors supporting the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Counselors provide compassionate support to people experiencing emotional distress, mental health concerns, substance use challenges, suicidal thoughts, and other life crises. They help de-escalate situations, offer emotional support, and connect callers with appropriate resources. This opportunity allows employees to earn additional income while making a meaningful difference. Coverage is needed across days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. No professional licensure or credentialing is required; selected candidates receive training for the role.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Obtain American Association of Suicidology (AAS) Crisis Worker Certification.
- Compassion, calmness under pressure, strong communication skills, and commitment to helping others.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual ability.
- One year of experience in behavioral health, substance-use, or disability services.
- An associate degree or higher.
