About The Position

Utilizing classroom and on-the-job training, the Nova Scotia 911 Training Coordinator prepares 911 Call Takers across the province to function in a high-demand setting. Upon successful completion of training, 911 Call Takers are responsible for answering 911 calls and connecting the people behind those calls to emergency first responders who can deliver the urgent help they need.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with five (5) years of related experience in program coordination, training and facilitation
Comprehensive understanding of learning and development principles and adult education
Experience providing and documenting feedback as well as developing and implementing training programs and materials
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Effective interactive communication skills (written and verbal) and group facilitation experience
Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
Comfortable working independently and bringing an innovative approach to your work, incorporating changing technology and trends into your material
Encourage a proactive, anticipatory approach to emerging issues within your field
Valid Canadian driver’s license

Nice To Haves

Certificate in Project Management
Proficiency in eLearning development and design
Experience and/or knowledge of Enhanced 911 and Next Generation 911 (NG911) call-handling solutions

Responsibilities

In-classroom training and evaluation for newly hired 911 Call Takers and experienced 911 Call Takers returning from an extended absence
On-the-Job Follow-up monitoring, coaching, training and evaluation for newly hired 911 Call Takers and experienced 911 Call Takers returning from an extended absence
In-classroom refresher training for current 911 Call Takers
Ongoing training bulletins conveying procedural/process updates and changes
