About The Position

The Technology Services Department (TS) of the City and County of Denver use state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies to deliver and improve the systems, applications, and operations to our customers. Technology Services supports the people, agencies, and ideas that make the City and County of Denver a world-class city. As an IT Manager with the Technology Services team at Denver, you will be responsible for managing a team of Senior IT System Administrators and 911 System Administrators who support and maintain our 911 hardware, systems and applications. You will be working with customers and vendors, managing critical hardware and software systems that support 911 Operations. You will be responsible for setting project priorities, working with a diverse group of 911 Operations personnel, managing timelines for technology upgrades, equipment replacement and preparing cost estimates to support the work along with providing critical 911 systems support. We are seeking an individual who has both strong management and technical skills and thrives in a critical environment.

Requirements

  • Must understand city systems (Workday, classifications, compensation structures)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional level information technology work at the type and level of a senior or full performance professional.
  • One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • Must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance within the probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Allocate resources within the team, ensure customer needs are met, set work streams and schedules in line with business priorities, create resource plans for the team for project work and daily task work.
  • Work to set schedules and priorities for projects, preventative maintenance, system upgrades, security, on-call and personnel scheduling.
  • Manage technical support needs for two diverse 911 locations.
  • Provide support to the team to assist with troubleshooting and resolving routine to complex problems with servers, databases, emergency communications applications, and user hardware and software.
  • Work with vendors to resolve issues when appropriate, manage vendor relationships including contract review, SOW’s and budgetary information.
  • Assist the team in the achievement of performance standards while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Work with other teams in TS to identify and fix any issues throughout the 911 systems and connected applications.
  • Work with Business and Technology stakeholders to identify existing system problems, new business requirements and evaluate and recommend various software and hardware solutions to meet user needs.
  • Assist with researching, recommending, implementing, and testing new functionality and configuration changes.
  • Work directly with the TS Security team to Implement security software to protect and support 911 Operations, system data and applications; maintain security and user profiles for applications; add and remove users.
  • Work with other TS Management personnel, Facilities Management personnel and others to make sure the Facility is maintained, work to manage a resilient COOP and DR platform for 911 Operations.
  • Manage the Keep the Lights On (KTLO) process’ for maintenance and support of 911 systems, platforms and applications.
  • Provide on-call/after-hours support when assigned or requested.
