About The Position

Administrative and technical work assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Enhanced 9-1-1 Telephone System for Seminole County. Manages the 9-1-1 Network Database and 9-1-1 call routing. Ensures database integrity of Address Location Information (ALI) in the 9-1-1 System. Evaluates, researches, and resolves technical issues in the total County-Wide 9-1-1 Network. Provides direction to internal and external entities and individuals regarding 9-1-1 Network operations and requirements. Oversees 9-1-1 Network activities, depending primarily on trouble reports from 9-1-1 Centers (PSAPS). Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description. Additional compensation based on licensure.

Requirements

  • Completion of Associate's Degree and two (2) years’ experience in working with the administration of a 9-1-1 system or a combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years 911 PSAP experience.
  • A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
  • Knowledge of all County Communications Systems, including system interfacing, communications terminology, procedures, equipment, and County geography.
  • Knowledge of recording systems and database software programs.
  • Obtain CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System) Level 2 Security certificate within 6 months of employment.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements and become a Seminole County Public School Dividend Volunteer.
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of 9-1-1 equipment and terminology.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and to interpret situations for response with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to make presentations before varied groups.
  • Ability to organize work, projects, files and resolve routine problems.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License.
  • Ability to read and understand maps, plans, and addressing systems.
  • Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information; includes receiving assignments and/or directions from supervisors. Includes the giving of information, instruction, and/or directions to others.

  • All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings.
  • Department Specific trainings per position may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists County Addressing with address changes, field checks and other verification methods for the emergency 9-1-1 system.
  • Maintains master street address guide and various logs, files, and statistical records for the 9-1-1 system.
  • Receives Emergency 9-1-1 inquiries and processes changes, as necessary, by uploading and downloading information from the telephone companies.
  • Conducts mapping research, including field work, to resolve conflicting information and verify address issues for data accuracy purposes.
  • Responds to public inquiries and/or complaints.
  • Assists in providing technical interface between the 911 Administration and the Telephone Companies.
  • Inputs, recalls, edits, and manipulates data in a computer system.
  • Assists with managing the 9-1-1 admin database and 9-1-1 user credentials in various systems.
  • Maintains profiles on each Public Safety Answering Point in Seminole County.
  • Provides assistance to Public Safety Answering Points and develops and maintains a close working relationship with each organization.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains all system problems and reports equipment failure to appropriate repair agency.
  • Establishes and maintains an accurate data management system by coordinating with all law enforcement agencies, fire departments, participating telephone companies, and system suppliers.
  • Provides coordination and development of Life Safety Education Programs for County residents relating to proper use of the 911 system and technologies.
  • Conducts special projects and assists management in scheduling, special events, statistics, and projects as assigned.
  • Act as a liaison with 911 Center personnel and system vendors to ensure the 911 system functions at the highest level possible.
  • Process and prepare invoices for payment. This includes gathering, printing, and ensuring that all appropriate documentation and signature are included in the payment package, forward appropriate paperwork for required signatures and approvals, monitoring and tracking invoices thru payment cycle, initiate any follow up, communication with internal and external customers, adhere to required policies and procedures, distribution of appropriate documents, and maintain and function as custodian of required records.
  • Assist with processing new work requests, budget changes and change orders for work orders against contracts. This includes input in to the JD Edwards accounting system, printing appropriate documents, forwarding for required signatures, monitoring, tracking and record work order balances, communication with internal and external customers, adhere to required policies and procedures, distributions of required documents, and maintain and function as custodian of required records.
  • Keep current on and adhere to Purchasing, accounting, department, division, section, and accounting software, policies, procedures and instruction.
  • Process and complete statistical reports as necessary.
  • Work involves administrative support to staff and managers.
  • Participates in in-service training, as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary.
  • In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
  • Process incoming repair reports, trouble tickets and equipment problems within one hour of receipt and monitor until resolved.
  • Ensure that no issue lingers for more than one week without informing all involved parties and escalating the repair or service.
  • Works closely with PSAP and addressing partners to enhance the overall 911 program.
  • Adjusts to changing situations and work conditions with a pro-active mind set.
  • Utilizes good judgment in making decisions regarding routine operations and management of the 911 database.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with internal and external staff and acts as a positive role model for other employees.
