About The Position

Full-time 911 Dispatcher position responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services county-wide. Dispatchers determine the nature and location of emergencies, prioritize, and dispatch appropriate agencies according to established policies and procedures. They provide detailed call information to responding units, maintain status and awareness of all unit locations, and keep a log of all information. Additionally, dispatchers assist the public in the Sheriff's Office lobby, perform inquiries and criminal history checks through NCIC and NCJIS systems, collect statistical data for reports, and update and ensure the accuracy of the database. They operate the TIME System and other databases, enter, clear, maintain, and validate agency warrants, coordinate efforts with other agencies, and maintain statistics on warrants and extraditions. This role requires availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, with 12-hour shifts. A 12-week training period is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Minimum 20 years of age
  • U.S. citizen
  • No felony or domestic crime convictions
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Self-motivated
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic office, computer, and written skills
  • Ability to promptly verbally communicate accurate information in stressful situations
  • Completion of an on-the-job training program and related recertification requirements upon employment
  • Successful applicants may be required to complete a written test, oral interview, background investigation (these may be waived if currently employed and performing the described related duties).

Responsibilities
