About The Position

This is an extra duty position for an 8th Grade Volleyball Coach at North Junior High for the 2026-27 school year. The primary function is to develop and implement an exemplary athletic program that provides the highest quality education and growth opportunities for every student athlete. The role involves ensuring compliance with school policies, working cooperatively with staff, relating positively to parents and community, demonstrating professional growth, completing records and reports accurately, demonstrating proficiency in English, fulfilling responsibilities beyond the team setting, assuming responsibility for care of materials, equipment, and facilities, and ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Instructional responsibilities include fostering positive interactions among student-athletes, building supportive relationships, demonstrating enthusiasm for coaching and learning, promoting self-direction and self-motivation in students, and creating clearly defined standards of behavior and academic performance. Subject matter expertise requires comprehensive knowledge of volleyball, effective instruction, and adapting strategy to individual needs. Planning involves developing and sustaining an organized athletic program with long-term planning, and employing diverse strategies and resources for student athlete development. Coaching techniques should clearly convey fundamental expectations and their significance, utilize appropriate and varied methods, and maintain a system for monitoring student progress.

Requirements

Prior coaching experience preferred.
