About The Position

The 8th Grade Girls Track Assistant Coach supports the head coach and helps students develop the skills needed to achieve in track. The assistant coach follows the head coach’s policies and rules to support the growth of the sport program at all levels. Duties may include clerical work, strategy meetings, issuing and returning equipment, preparing facilities, and supervision, as assigned by the head coach. The coach must stay current on ideas and techniques in the assigned sport and know its rules and regulations, including changes.

Requirements

• Possess a valid coaching authorization or be a certified teacher with a coaching endorsement.
• Demonstrate aptitude for performing the listed tasks.
• Exhibit ethical practices and serve as a role model to students.
• Meet other qualifications the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Coach individual participants in the skill areas necessary for achievement in the sport, as assigned by the head coach.
• Carry out duties assigned by the head coach, including clerical work, strategy meetings, equipment issue and return, facility preparation, and supervision.
• Support the head coach by following the policies and rules established to maintain growth of the sport program at all levels.
• Keep abreast of new ideas and techniques in the assigned sport.
• Remain knowledgeable about the sport’s rules and regulations and changes to them.
• Perform other coaching-related duties as assigned.
