About The Position

St. Matthew School is seeking a Part-time 7th Grade Religion Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. The teacher will assist students in mastering the skills and information in the school curriculum while helping them to grow in faith and responsibility. Teachers in the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Columbus are expected to know, understand, and contribute to the integration of Catholic teachings and virtues throughout the curriculum and school culture, supporting faith formation and student learning. This role requires understanding student learning, development, and faith formation while respecting diversity, knowing and understanding the subject matter, using varied assessments, planning and delivering effective instruction, creating Christ-centered learning environments, collaborating with students, parents, and colleagues, and assuming responsibility for professional growth.

Requirements

Hold an appropriate Ohio Teaching License (Professional, Permanent, or Resident Educator) or be eligible to obtain one before beginning to teach.
Current satisfactory BCI & FBI background checks.
Have attended or be willing to attend a Virtus Protecting God's Children training.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Appropriate state certification/license as required by the grade levels and subjects taught.
Religious Education certification as required by the diocese.

Know and understand the content for which they have instructional responsibility.
Use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate, and ensure student learning.
Plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student.
Create Christ-centered learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students.
Collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators, and the faith community to support student development, learning, and faith.
Assume responsibility for professional academic/spiritual growth, performance, and involvement as an individual and as a member of a Catholic learning community.
