About The Position

Waukee Community School District (WCSD) is seeking a 7th Grade Math Teacher for South Middle School. This position is for 194 or 196 days, depending on experience within WCSD. The ideal candidate will possess a valid State of Iowa teaching license and be certified to teach 5-12 Math or Middle School Math, K-6 Classroom, and high school Algebra (5-8 Algebra for High School credit). The role requires knowledge of the middle-level learner based on current research and the ability to create and maintain healthy relationships with students and staff. Flexibility, high motivation, and enthusiasm are essential when working with middle and high school learners. The teacher will demonstrate an understanding and application of Professional Learning Community (PLC) principles, the Waukee Framework for Meeting the Needs of All Students, and various teaching methods including co-teaching, collaboration, whole/small group, and individualized instruction. A commitment to differentiating instruction for diverse learners, including all special populations, and incorporating literacy strategies based on current research is expected. The position also requires a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development aligned with Iowa Professional Development Standards and Iowa Teaching Standards, as well as an understanding and implementation of the MTSS process. The teacher will utilize developmentally appropriate assessments, articulate oral and written communications, maintain accurate standards-based grades, and provide measurable feedback on student work. Evidence of recent professional learning, knowledge of current research, understanding of formative assessment, and the use of data to adapt to individual student needs are also important. Participation in professional development is required.

Requirements

  • Valid State of Iowa teaching license
  • 5-12 Math OR Middle School Math and K-6 Classroom and certified to teach high school Algebra (5-8 Algebra for High School credit)
  • Knowledge of the middle level learner based on current research
  • Knowledge of literacy strategies based on current research
  • Record of recent professional learning and knowledge of current research
  • Understanding of formative assessment and evidence of using data to adapt to individual needs of students of all ability levels
