About The Position

Grace Christian Academy is seeking a 7th Grade History Teacher to serve in fulfillment of GCA’s mission to Lead, Build, and Equip students. This role requires a committed follower of Jesus Christ who is an active participant in a local church. The teacher will be responsible for instructing students in the assigned curriculum area, designing teaching material, and creating lessons centered around a biblical worldview. The position also involves facilitating discussions on social issues from a biblical lens, devising lesson plans according to GCA’s standards, and holding students to a high standard of performance. The teacher will experiment with different teaching methods, differentiate instruction, and maintain a positive and safe learning environment. Utilizing a learning management system, updating grades and lesson plans on Renweb, and maintaining cordial relationships with parents and the community are also key responsibilities. The role requires keeping parents informed of student progress, holding conferences, and reporting any suspected child abuse or neglect. Establishing respectful working relationships within the school and performing other assigned duties are also expected.

  • High level of emotional intelligence
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Experience integrating technology into the curriculum
  • Ability to engage parents/guardians as partners in the student’s educational experience
  • A history of continued growth and development as an educator
  • A history of effective collaboration with colleagues
  • Desire to interact with students outside of the classroom (e.g. coaching, clubs, etc.)
  • Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and a lifestyle of biblical integrity.
  • Must be an active member of a local church.
  • Fully supportive of the decisions and loyal to the mission and leadership of the school and Grace Baptist Church.
  • Passion for connecting with teachers, students, and families to support student/ teacher success within a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

  • Give instruction to the students in the curricula area assigned by the Principal
  • Design teaching material
  • Create lessons centered around a biblical worldview
  • Facilitate course discussions on social issues from a biblical lens while acknowledging various denominational differences
  • Devise lesson plans that follow GCA’s Curriculum and Instruction Standards and Course Maps
  • Ability to hold students to a clearly articulated standard of performance
  • Experiment with different teaching methods
  • Differentiate instruction for students with learning challenges
  • Maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes safe learning
  • Utilize learning management system for instruction
  • Update grades and lesson plans on Renweb
  • Maintain cordial relationships with the home, parent(s)/guardian(s) and community
  • Keep parent(s)/guardian(s) duly informed of the child’s progress and hold conferences with parent(s)/guardian(s) when necessary
  • Report to the appropriate authorities when one knows or reasonably suspects that a child’s health or welfare has been or appears to have been harmed as a result of abuse or neglect.
  • Establish and maintain satisfactory, respectful working relationships within the school environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
