About The Position

St. John’s Lutheran School of Baraboo is seeking a dedicated, caring, and enthusiastic 7th - 8th Grade Teacher to join our Christ-centered learning community. This is a full-time, salaried position that includes a competitive benefits package. St. John’s is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS); however, WELS membership is not a requirement for this position.

Requirements

  • Consistent and regular use of the means of grace in public worship, public bible study, and private use of God’s word and serving as an example of living a Christian life.
  • Elementary, Secondary or Early Childhood education degree
  • State Certification or active pursuit there of
  • Ability to work professionally and proficiently in a ministry team, understanding the importance of caring relationships between staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A member in good standing in a Christian congregation
  • Active support of the mission & ministry statements of St. John’s Lutheran Church & School.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and train all children in prescribed subjects and in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and best practices.
  • Use the Gospel to empower, equip, and motivate students.
  • Work diligently and in faithful Christian love together with the called workers and staff of St. John’s
  • Maintain open communication with the parents.
  • Foster and promote loving relationships with students, parents, and families.
  • Work with and refer to school administration any complicated situations with parents/guardians.
  • Keep accurate student attendance, discipline, and special needs records.
  • Communicate important and relevant information with the appropriate personnel when necessary.
  • Implement and manage school policies and procedures set forth by school administration and/or the School Board.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all students, staff information, and records.
  • Communicate openly and regularly with administration, parents, and staff to best support student success.
  • Attend all faculty, staff, and in-service meetings unless excused by the school administrator.
  • Actively apply God’s word throughout the school day.
  • Develop yearly and weekly instruction and assessment plans
  • Develop classroom schedules that coordinate with other classes and building needs.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of successful school-wide curriculum
  • Serve in at least one additional role at St. John’s outside of regular classroom duties (ie- athletics, club, music, drama, choir, Sunday School, worship, etc...)
  • Participate in and support extra-curriculars to demonstrate support for school and students
  • Contribute to the promotion of St. John’s School to the greater Baraboo community
