About The Position

St. Mark’s Middle School 7th - 8th Spanish Teacher is a crucial position for the students, families, and faculty at St. Mark’s Episcopal School. While this position encompasses many different duties, its primary function is to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate Spanish instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to fulfill their academic potential.

Requirements

  • A copy of your college transcript.
  • A completed and signed Background inquiry release.
  • Evidence of citizenship or a legal work permit.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Follow a scope of sequence and lesson plans, adjusting progress based on student readiness.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities to meet students' varying needs.
  • Regularly review materials and request new materials as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources, and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
  • Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.
  • Creates an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers.
  • Serve as a Middle School Advisor, guiding a small group of students in acquisition of study skills, executive functioning skills, and character development.
  • Participate in school meetings and parent conferences.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Design and teach Middle School electives and/or advanced-level classes.
  • Supervise lunch duty and dismissal duty on a regular basis.
  • Provide materials for substitute teachers.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Middle School.
