About The Position

This position serves as an Instructional Assistant for 7th and 8th grade General Education students. The role involves supporting teachers in various classroom and clerical duties, as well as directly assisting students with their learning and behavioral needs. The assistant will work under the supervision of the Principal and classroom teacher, contributing to a positive and effective learning environment.

Requirements

  • An associate of arts degree, OR
  • Two years of college (48 credit hours), OR
  • Pass the ParaPro exam (state assessment test for knowledge of and ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and math).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and other staff members.
  • Ability to proficiently aid teachers in the performance of clerical duties.
  • Ability to work well with staff and students.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Assist teachers with clerical duties.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and students.
  • Prepare the classroom for school and for the close of school.
  • Help prepare and distribute lesson materials.
  • Instruct students under teacher supervision.
  • Maintain classroom neatness and order.
  • Assist with arranging bulletin boards.
  • Supervise cafeteria and playground areas under teacher supervision.
  • Assist with all clerical duties, including student records and copying.
  • Maintain effective communication with the teacher.
  • Work with groups of students inside and/or outside the classroom.
  • Assess student abilities and assist with collecting academic/behavioral data.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the building principal.
