About The Position

Sierra Vista Unified School District is seeking passionate, dedicated coaches to join our athletic team for the 7/8th Grade Softball position for the Fourth Quarter Athletics for School Year 2026-2027. This is a seasonal position running from March 22 - May 27. The coach must demonstrate and apply leadership, integrity, responsibility, self-control, and knowledge of rules and regulations at all times. It is necessary and important that the coach act in a responsible and professional manner. The coach must set a good example and provide a healthy lifestyle. The goal is to help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

Requirements

  • Similar athletic experience required
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate or Arizona Coaching Certificate - optional
  • Have knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
  • Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
  • Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
  • Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in his sport.
  • Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and overseas penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
  • Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
  • Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures.
