About The Position

Arbor Academy is seeking dedicated and dynamic 7/8 grade middle school self-contained teachers. The position fosters students’ interest in education and supports their academic development. Teachers are expected to have mastery of the Michigan Academic Standards for their respective disciplines and in-depth knowledge of instructional best practices, educational methods, and procedures for secondary classrooms.

Requirements

Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) for the subject area(s) being taught.
Bachelor’s degree required.
At least 3 years of teaching experience.
Evidence of meeting highly qualified requirements as defined by No Child Left Behind.
Ability to teach and develop curriculum for assigned grade levels.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and align with Michigan objectives and school-wide curriculum goals.
Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
Monitor individual student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
Provide help to individual students who are behind or struggling with content.
Collaborate with other teachers to develop lesson plans and improve the learning process.
Communicate with students and parents about student progress and needs.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for learning activities.
Manage classroom behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s rules and disciplinary systems.
Use formative, summative, and interim assessment data to inform daily instruction.
Create classroom assessments that measure student proficiency against the Michigan Academic Standards.
