About The Position

Livonia Public Schools is seeking a positive and impactful leader in the area of secondary mathematics and science teaching and learning. The 7-12 Mathematics and Science Coordinator position will provide leadership to coordinate the development of the 7-12 mathematics and science curriculum; plan and implement effective professional learning programs; identify and communicate research-based, effective instructional and assessment strategies and practices; plan, monitor and evaluate student assessments and analyze assessment results; and select and plan for purchase of print and electronic textbooks, paper and online instructional resources and other content area materials. The nature of the responsibilities will require on-going planning and coordination with other coordinators, school and district administrators, and directors.

Requirements

  • Master's or advanced degree preferred
  • Valid Michigan Administrator Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching or administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership in facilitating teacher groups and a commitment to student achievement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with parents and the broader community.
  • Extensive knowledge of research-based instructional strategies and student engagement techniques.
  • Proficiency in delivering high-quality professional development in mathematics and/or science.
  • Proven ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Dedication to maintaining strict confidentiality and professional integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive, welcoming, and inclusive department culture
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of 7-12 mathematics and science curricula, including standards alignment, resource selection, and assessment analysis
  • Advance and evaluate 7-12 STEM pathways
  • Design professional learning and curriculum activities rooted in best practices for adult learning and strategic change
  • Support, collaborate with and grow Professional Learning Teams at the school and district level
  • Maintain and share expertise in current instructional strategies, assessment models, and content area trends
  • Partner with the Assessments Coordinator to analyze student data and improve assessment systems
  • Manage the annual inventory and procurement of consumable math and science resources
  • Support the implementation of district improvement initiatives and strategic plans.
  • Collaborate across the Academic Services Department and with district leadership to coordinate program development
  • Provide leadership to Content Area Leaders (CALs) and Department Chairs.
  • Assist in teaching staff evaluations as needed
  • Facilitate district-level committees focused on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional growth
  • Perform other coordinating duties as assigned
