About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Building Principal, the 6th Grade Teacher provides high-quality instruction that engages students in meaningful learning experiences while promoting academic growth, critical thinking, collaboration, and college and career readiness. The teacher develops and implements standards-based instruction aligned with the Minnesota Academic Standards and creates a positive learning environment that supports the success of all learners.

Requirements

Responsibilities

Plans and delivers engaging, standards-aligned instruction in core content areas, including Science and Social Studies, as assigned.
Creates a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, responsibility, and academic achievement.
Develops lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with district curriculum and Minnesota Academic Standards.
Utilizes formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs.
Differentiates instruction to support students with diverse academic, cultural, linguistic, and social-emotional needs.
Maintains accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
Integrates technology and instructional resources to enhance student learning and engagement.
Collaborates with colleagues to improve instructional practices, curriculum alignment, and student achievement.
Establishes positive relationships with students, families, and staff through effective communication and collaboration.
Participates in Individualized Education Program (IEP), Section 504, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and other student support meetings as appropriate.
Supervises students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other assigned areas to ensure a safe learning environment.
Maintains classroom materials and instructional resources in accordance with district expectations.
Participates in grade-level meetings, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and district professional development activities.
Supports district initiatives related to instructional improvement, student achievement, and school climate.
Maintains professional competence through continued professional learning and participation in professional organizations.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent.
Assists with school activities, committees, and other responsibilities that contribute to the overall success of the school.
