About The Position

Mountain View Middle School is seeking a collaborative, learner-centered educator to join our 6th Grade English Language Arts team. The successful candidate will provide engaging, standards-aligned literacy instruction that develops students as confident readers, writers, communicators, and critical thinkers while supporting their transition into middle school. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of middle-level learners and effective English Language Arts instruction. The successful candidate will use a variety of instructional and assessment practices to meet individual learner needs, provide meaningful feedback, and create opportunities for learners to take an active role in their learning.

Requirements

  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification appropriate for the assignment.
  • Middle Level English Language Arts 4-8, or appropriate Pennsylvania certification

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver instruction aligned with district curriculum and Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
  • Provide effective instruction in reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, and language development.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to identify learner needs, differentiate instruction, and provide appropriate intervention or enrichment.
  • Create a classroom environment built on positive relationships, clear expectations, consistent routines, and high levels of student engagement.
  • Design learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, and student ownership.
  • Effectively integrate instructional technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate as part of a grade-level team, content-area department, and professional learning community to support student achievement.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with students, families, colleagues, and support staff.
  • Support inclusive practices and work collaboratively with special education, reading, intervention, and other support personnel.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, reflection, and continuous improvement.
