About The Position
Poughkeepsie City School District is seeking qualified 6th Assignment Teachers at Poughkeepsie Middle School for the 2026–2027 school year. Available assignments include Math 7 and Math 8, including intervention periods, and Spanish 1A and 1B. The Interim Superintendent is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates. Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the Superintendent’s recommendation, based on assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and evaluation of service. Personal interviews may be conducted where appropriate. The effective date is as soon as practicable. Salary is in accordance with the PPSTA contract.
Requirements
- NYS teaching certification in the tenure area for which the applicant is applying to teach.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
- Develop lesson plans.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Prepare the classroom for class activities.
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for educational activities.
- Identify and use different instructional resources and methods to support students with varying learning needs and levels of progress.
- Keep records of examination and quiz scores, daily attendance, and class grades for all students.
