About The Position

Grant Ragan Elementary is seeking a 5th Grade Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Iowa teaching license with an elementary classroom endorsement (K-6). This role requires a strong understanding of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and the ability to apply this knowledge in a team setting. Experience with various teaching methods, including collaborating, co-teaching, and whole group/small group/individualized instruction, is essential. A commitment to differentiated instruction and a desire for professional growth are key. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of formative assessment and the ability to use data to adapt instruction for students of all ability levels. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate assessments and experience with diverse learners (Special Education, ELP, ESOL) are also important. The teacher should be flexible, highly motivated, positive, and enthusiastic about working with children, with proven ability to establish effective classroom routines and procedures that foster a positive learning environment and promote student achievement. Strong oral and written communication skills, proactive and positive communication with parents, and experience with current educational technology are expected.

Requirements

• Valid Iowa teaching license
• Elementary classroom endorsement (K-6)
• Understanding of PLC elements and ability to apply to a team situation
• Understanding of and experience in using multiple teaching methods: collaborating, co-teaching, whole group/small group/individualized instruction
• Commitment to differentiated instruction
• Evidence of recent staff development/on-going education and knowledge of current research
• Understanding of formative assessment and evidence of using data to adapt to individual needs of students of all ability levels
• Knowledge of various types of developmentally appropriate assessments of children
• Flexible, highly motivated, positive, and enthusiastic about working with children
• Evidence of effective routines and procedures that lead to a positive classroom environment that promotes student achievement
• Articulate in oral and written communications
• Experience with diverse learners: Special Education, ELP, ESOL, etc.
• Proven proactive and positive communication with parents and families
• Knowledge of and experience with using current technology to enhance learning
