About The Position

This is a leave replacement position for a 5th Grade Teacher for the 26/27 school year. The role is a 1.0 FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) NON CON (Non-Contract) position located at Edison. As a condition of employment, completion of Safe Schools web-based training is required.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State teacher’s certificate with endorsement in elementary education
  • Satisfactory evaluations
  • Completion of Safe Schools web based training is required as a condition of employment.

  • Evidence of success in working with students who are below grade level (strategies used in the classroom may be submitted) as well as those who are above grade level.
  • Evidence of successfully aligning curriculum to Common Core and using a variety of assessment techniques to monitor student progress and drive instructional decisions.
  • Evidence of successfully helping students reach district and state performance standards.
  • Evidence of successful classroom management and student/teacher relationships.
  • Evidence of successful experience using data to adjust support student progress.
  • Belief that all students can succeed, No Exceptions.
  • Punctual and consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and instruct the students in the location at the time designated.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request from the immediate supervisor.
  • Take all reasonable and necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Teach students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior (develop a written classroom plan that is connected to the school wide behavior expectations).
  • Maintain records as required by law, District policy and administrative guidelines.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations.
  • Attend and participate in faculty and team meetings.
  • Teach curriculum as implemented by the school using developmentally-appropriate practices, hands-on projects, cooperative group activities and assess progress in a variety of ways.
  • Participate in building-wide programs including: Kids at Hope, PBIS, study and social skills.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all students.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative professional relationships with others.
  • Attend grade level data meetings to discuss student progress.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with District policies and practices.
