About The Position

Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning. This role involves creating learning experiences that make subject matter meaningful and engaging, adapting instruction for diverse learners, and fostering intellectual, social, and personal development. The teacher will develop lesson plans aligned with state standards and district curriculum, utilize various instructional strategies, and create a positive learning environment. Assessment of student progress, participation in data conversations, and regular communication with parents are key components of this position. The teacher will also participate in student assistance teams and complete required reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously
  • Ability to move around the classroom
  • Ability to read handwritten or printed material
  • Ability to solve practical problems utilizing math functions as needed to complete job duties.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction to students.

  • Understand central concepts, structures, and tools of inquiry of the discipline(s).
  • Understand how students learn, develop, and differ in their approaches to learning.
  • Provide learning opportunities adapted to diverse learners and support intellectual, social, and personal development.
  • Develop daily lesson plans aligned with state standards and District curriculum maps, informed by student data.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to encourage students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and performance skills.
  • Create a learning environment that encourages active engagement, positive social interaction, and self-motivation.
  • Model effective communication techniques with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Understand and use formative and summative assessment strategies to assess learner progress.
  • Use classroom and standardized assessment data to plan ongoing instruction.
  • Participate in regular, meaningful data conversations through learning communities.
  • Monitor the performance of each student and devise instruction to enable academic progress.
  • Treat others with respect and civility, value diversity, and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Actively seek out opportunities to grow professionally to improve learning for all students.
  • Participate in building, grade level, and subject area committees.
  • Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns.
  • Participate as a member of an IEP team, 504 team, or other student assistance teams as requested.
  • Implement plans as written.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment.
  • Prepare lesson plans for substitute teachers prior to absences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
