About The Position

The 5th Grade Science Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing daily instructional goals, strategies, and assessment methods aligned with district and state curriculum. This role requires demonstrating effective instruction with strong content and pacing knowledge, utilizing strategies beneficial to all students, including those underachieving or with special needs. The teacher will analyze assessment results, implement interventions for mastery, and maintain student engagement. Key responsibilities include providing quality feedback, setting high expectations, fostering a supportive classroom environment, and demonstrating student progress. The position also involves active participation in school and district activities, professional development, building positive relationships with parents, peers, and students, maintaining accurate records, and engaging in the Teacher Growth and Development process. Adherence to safety procedures, punctual attendance, active student supervision, and maintaining confidentiality are essential. The teacher will also facilitate parent-teacher conferences and perform other assigned duties. Regular in-person attendance is required.

Requirements

  • Highly qualified as defined by federal guidelines of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree.
  • Full state certification or licensure.
  • For K-6 teachers: elementary certification or designated subject certification in grades 5 or 6 if departmentalized and only teaching that subject or subjects for which certification is held.
  • For teachers in grades 7 and above: certified in the area they teach.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibits consistent planning of daily instructional goals, strategies, and methods of assessment that are consistent with the district and state curriculum.
  • Ensures that adequate plans for substitutes are available as needed.
  • Demonstrates effective instruction and implementation with strong context, content, and pacing knowledge.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of effective instructional strategies that will benefit all students including underachieving and special needs populations.
  • Demonstrates effective analysis of assessment results and implementation of instructional interventions to achieve mastery.
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in maintaining student engagement.
  • Exhibits quality written and verbal feedback that addresses individual student needs.
  • Exhibits high expectations for self and students.
  • Maintains a classroom environment that is supportive of all students.
  • Demonstrates evidence of student progress towards school and individual goals.
  • Shows evidence of involvement in school and district activities.
  • Demonstrates continued growth by participation in professional development activities.
  • Builds successful relationships with parents, peers and students in order to impact maximum student achievement.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records.
  • Plans for and actively participates in the Teacher Growth and Development process.
  • Adheres to all safety procedures, rules, and policies to ensure the well being of all students.
  • Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work location and notifies principal or designee of impending absence in a timely manner.
  • Maintains active supervision of students during all work and duty assignments.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all student information.
  • Provides ample opportunities for all parents to participate in parent teacher conferences.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the principal.
  • Regular in person attendance.
