About The Position

The 5th Grade Level Science Teacher at Philip's Academy Charter School of Paterson will serve as the instructional leader for their classroom, reporting to the Principal. This role involves creating, managing, and participating in diverse learning environments and activities to foster student development and mastery of learning objectives. Philip's teachers are expected to engage in extensive professional development, collaborate with colleagues, promote rigorous learning, and support the collective interests of students and the school community. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required.
Hold a valid NJ State K-6 Teacher Certification or other K-12 science certification (i.e., Biological Science, chemistry, earth science, physical science and general science.)
Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students.

Excellent teamwork, work ethic, and organizational skills.
Communicate effectively in English, both orally and verbally.
Possess excellent integrity, a gentle spirit, and demonstrate strong moral character and initiative.
Demonstrate technological abilities: word processing, data management, and informational retrieval.
Maintain ongoing professional development.
Submit a background check through the New Jersey Department of Education.
Be CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtain certification upon hire.
Complete a Tuberculosis test and physical and provide a physician's documentation of both.
Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry students up to 70lbs.
Have dependable transportation.

Nice To Haves

advanced degree in education a plus.
1-2 years teaching experience is preferred.
Being bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead direct instruction in the classroom for whole groups, small groups, and individual students.
Work cooperatively with grade level partners and additional staff to implement a strong, engaging, integrated and appropriate curriculum.
Communicate effectively and collaborate with families to ensure consistency between home and school in order to promote student success.
Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
Maintain ongoing professional development.
Support during other times of the day, including but not limited to teaching a co-curricular and providing supervision during recess, lunch, and hallway.
