About The Position

This is an extra duty position for a 5th Grade Girls Basketball Coach at West Terrace Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. The primary function is to develop and implement an exemplary athletic program that provides the highest quality education and growth opportunities for every student athlete. The role involves ensuring compliance with school policies, working cooperatively with staff, relating positively to parents and community, demonstrating professional growth, completing records and reports accurately, accepting responsibilities beyond the team setting, assuming responsibility for care of materials and facilities, and ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Instructional responsibilities include fostering positive interactions among student-athletes, building supportive relationships, demonstrating enthusiasm, promoting self-direction and self-motivation, and creating clear standards of behavior and academic performance. Subject matter expertise requires comprehensive knowledge of basketball, effective instruction, and adapting strategy to individual needs. Planning involves developing and sustaining an organized program with long-term planning, and utilizing diverse strategies and resources. Delivery includes clearly conveying coaching expectations, explaining their significance, using appropriate coaching techniques, and maintaining a system for monitoring student progress.

Requirements

Prior coaching experience preferred.
