About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS), a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education, is seeking a passionate, data-driven 5th Grade English Language Arts Teacher. The teacher will deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and build students’ foundational literacy, numeracy, and critical-thinking skills. AMS teachers work collaboratively and believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, a strong classroom culture, and consistent data-driven decision-making. This is a full-time, on-site position at 1445 West Baseline Road, Phoenix, AZ 85041. The stated compensation range is $48,331.25–$54,571.89, depending on experience. The posting lists an ASAP start date.

Requirements

Meet at least one of the following: hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a relevant content area; hold a valid Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area; or have at least three years of K–12 teaching experience.
Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset.
Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment.

SEI Endorsement or completion of 45 hours of SEI training (preferred, but not required).

Responsibilities

Deliver rigorous instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworks and standards.
Differentiate instruction for students performing above and below grade level.
Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and interventions.
Build students’ foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Establish and maintain a structured, positive classroom environment with high expectations.
Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies.
Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to improve teaching practices.
Contribute to school-wide systems and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Communicate regularly with families about student progress.
Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.
