About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a qualified 5th-8th Grade Math Teacher at Lake Erie Preparatory School in Cleveland, Ohio. The role involves bringing the curriculum to life, creating a positive classroom environment, and supporting students’ academic learning and social-emotional development. Lake Erie Preparatory School serves families in Collinwood and surrounding neighborhoods and provides an EK-8 college preparatory education featuring foreign language, STEM, and Career Technical Education. It is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving K-12 students throughout the United States. The teacher prepares and delivers instruction, adapts teaching to students’ needs, monitors and records student progress, and contributes to a supportive and well-managed classroom. The role also includes communicating with families, collaborating with colleagues, incorporating technology, and participating in school activities as needed. The position operates within a growth-focused coaching environment that includes frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring. The stated salary range is $40,000-$49,500. Starting pay within the range may depend on geography or market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.

Requirements

Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to properly manage confidential information.
Ability to supervise students of various ages in settings such as the playground and cafeteria.
Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom.
Create a positive classroom environment that supports student learning.
Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
Communicate and meet with families regarding students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities as needed.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
