About The Position

Caprock Academy is seeking a 504 Coordinator. Caprock Academy is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Colorado Charter School Institute and utilizes the timeless principles of classically oriented education. As a person integral to Caprock Academy’s team, the Student Plan Coordinator will maintain the integrity of, advocate for, and facilitate the implementation of Caprock Academy’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values of character, accountability and academics. Caprock Academy follows the Core Knowledge© curriculum in grades K–8. This curriculum encompasses language arts, mathematics, science, history, geography, fine arts, and physical education. The curriculum is characterized by content-rich instruction, cumulative knowledge, content-specific lessons, and coherent sequencing. The foundation of our academics are rooted in classical education philosophy and pedagogy, following the grammar, logic and rhetoric trivium. The school’s mission is to help all students achieve their highest academic and character potential using proven, accelerated academic programs while providing a safe environment. This mission is achieved through our vision of strengthening the community through the involvement of parents, educators, and community leaders working together to provide an environment that fosters academic excellence and develops strong character in our students. We shape global citizens who set life goals and practice lives of service and virtue. 504 Coordinator shall report to the Director of Support Services. As a person integral to Caprock Academy’s staff, the Student Plan Coordinator will maintain the integrity of, advocate for, and facilitate the implementation of the Academy’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or education-related field preferred
  • Experience in developing and implementing student plans, such as 504 and ELL plans
  • Knowledge of Core Knowledge curriculum
  • Knowledge in Classical Education methodology
  • Experience in working with students of varying ages, skill levels, and circumstances
  • Professional and personal integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Child and family advocate
  • Excellent organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve the students in writing, maintaining, and updating 504 and ELL student plans.
  • Be responsible for working with other staff in coordinating and implementation of the student plans.
  • Coordinate, and when needed, conduct assessments necessary for writing and updating student plans.
  • Organize meetings as needed.
  • Promote and model productive communication and teamwork among staff and parents.
  • Meet accountability standards set by the state of Colorado and promote a school culture focused on student achievement.
  • Communicate with parents about specific student concerns.
  • Promote a Caprock Academy culture focused on student achievement.
  • Ensure the student plans are in complete compliance with the Colorado Department of Education.
