About The Position

This position is for a Special Education Resource Teacher at Challenger Middle School. The role involves designing and delivering learning experiences for students, organizing and facilitating the learning process using evidence-based instructional practices and technology, and participating in a community of learning to enhance student success. The teacher will consistently evaluate student progress, make adjustments, and communicate with stakeholders. A variety of Special Education positions are eligible for an annual stipend of $4,000. The district reserves the right to modify duties. This role requires consistent attendance, performing other duties as assigned, and achieving proficient performance evaluations. The teacher will assess student progress, comply with laws and policies, and demonstrate respect for diversity. High standards for professional conduct, knowledge of learning processes and content, and pedagogical expertise are expected. The role involves developing and implementing lessons, engaging students with diverse needs, ensuring student supervision, and establishing a safe, inclusive learning environment. High expectations, critical-thinking development, and adherence to health and safety policies are crucial. Fostering a positive learning environment, implementing the district's educational philosophy, and differentiating instruction for academic, social, emotional, and health needs are key. The teacher will integrate technology, link professional growth to goals, maintain accurate records, be available to students and parents, manage materials, model effective communication and conduct, perform duties as directed, plan and supervise assignments for support staff and volunteers, provide instruction aligned with standards, offer opportunities for teamwork and leadership, respond to safety situations, adapt to a dynamic environment, and use feedback to improve teaching. Collaboration with families is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (Baccalaureate) degree (e.g., B.A., A.B., B.S.)
  • Meets subject, grade level, and/or content area qualifications consistent with Colorado Department of Education and Academy District 20 requirements
  • Academy District 20, Teacher License: Initial - Colorado Department of Education
  • Teacher License: Professional - Colorado Department of Education
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and to learn functionality of new equipment and systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to create, access, input, retrieve, and manipulate information in various software systems
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate record keeping, document management, and filing systems
