About The Position

A precision machining job shop serving aerospace, defense, medical, and microelectronics customers is adding a 5-Axis Machinist. The work consists of short runs, typically 1 to 30 pieces, with tight tolerances and changing work in an AS9100D- and ISO 9001-certified shop. The machinist owns parts from setup through inspection and is encouraged to contribute ideas on fixturing and process.

Requirements

• Proven 5-axis CNC mill setup and operation experience.
• Ability to hold tight tolerances on short-run work.
• Comfort editing programs.
• Strong blueprint-reading and inspection skills.
• A steady work history.
• Must be a U.S. person because the work involves ITAR-controlled technical data.

Nice To Haves

• Job shop background is strongly preferred.
• CAM programming experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up, prove out, and run 5-axis machining centers to produce complex, high-precision parts.
• Edit programs at the control and program new parts where experience allows.
• Plan work holding and fixturing, set offsets, and adjust feeds and speeds.
• Inspect parts in process and at final using precision measuring tools.
• Read blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
• Keep machines, tooling, and the work area in good order.
