Develops and implements an instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student. This role requires a teacher who can establish and implement daily written lesson plans, evaluate student learning and revise instruction accordingly, and structure teaching to encourage independent thinking by students. The teacher will effectively prepare and use instructional materials and technology resources, maintain appropriate expectations for all students, differentiate instruction, and maintain appropriate student classroom behavior. The position also involves demonstrating knowledge of the subject/grade, resourcefulness, flexibility, and enthusiasm for teaching, utilizing strategies to meet class objectives, student needs, and abilities, and managing instructional time wisely. The role emphasizes providing an appropriate learning environment, modeling acceptable written and oral expressions, and effectively communicating with students, parents, and the community, while providing appropriate feedback to students. Furthermore, the teacher will use measures of student learning to improve instruction, model professional, moral, and ethical standards and personal integrity, participate in meaningful and continuous professional development, and work in a collegial and collaborative manner with peers, staff, parents, and community resources to support the success of a diverse student population. This includes providing services to the professional, the school division, and/or the community, demonstrating good attendance and punctuality, submitting required reports on time, meeting other deadlines, maintaining accurate records, following proper channels of communication, appropriately maintaining confidentiality, abiding by School Board policies, regulations, and school procedures, taking all industry standard precautions to protect students, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities, maintaining appropriate state licensure, assuming responsibility for and participating in staff development (professional growth) and training to keep materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date, following appropriate safety procedures, properly maintaining equipment, actively participating in and attending all required meetings, maintaining confidentiality when appropriate, and complying with and supporting school division policies, regulations, procedures, and the HCPS Strategic Plan. The teacher will also effectively perform other duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor.
