About The Position

Sun Valley Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and talented 4th Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, with a July start date. This full-time, contract position is located at our South Mountain campus. The ideal candidate is a motivated, self-starter who loves working with students, families, and teachers, and is passionate about making a difference in children's lives. You will be responsible for providing academic instruction aligned to Arizona State Standards, preparing and delivering engaging lessons, utilizing school-adopted systems of practice, assessing student progress, and using technology to enhance learning. You will also establish positive classroom routines, implement student goals from 504 Plans and IEPs, participate in professional learning, document and resolve student behavior/attendance issues, reflect on teaching practices, supervise students, and maintain accurate records. Additionally, you will participate in school-wide events, meetings, and parent conferences. The role requires promoting positive interactions, being responsible, flexible, reliable, punctual, adaptable, and accepting direction positively. You will also exercise problem-solving skills, adhere to school policies, maintain confidentiality, act as a positive role model, and show respect for cultural differences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Minimum one (1) Year teaching Experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Prior knowledge of Spalding, and Beyond Textbooks, and data driven instruction a plus.
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate, or Reciprocal Out-Of-State Certificate
  • Master's Degree or higher

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic instruction aligned to Arizona State Standards.
  • Prepare and deliver instruction appropriate to the grade level that includes different learning styles, abilities, and interests in accordance with state standards.
  • Utilize school adopted systems of practice for curriculum, instruction, and assessment including, but not limited to: Beyond Textbooks, Spalding, data submission, and testing protocols.
  • Assess student progress towards learning targets, objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents/guardians, and administration.
  • Use available technology to enhance student learning.
  • Communicate learning goals to students and parents or guardians in a well-planned and organized manner.
  • Use school and state assessment data to inform instruction.
  • Establish classroom routines and procedures in a positive manner conducive to effective instruction.
  • Effectively implement student goals outlined in 504 Plans and IEPs.
  • Participate in grade level and/or school wide professional learning activities.
  • Document and proactively attempt to resolve issues related to student behavior and/or attendance.
  • Reflect continually on teaching and professional practice.
  • Supervise classroom and/or other students in the school in adherence with state laws.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by the school and law.
  • Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and parent conferences.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
